One way to boost recycling rates is to introduce food waste collections, this is what Lewisham have done, with this they have changed from weekly collections to fortnightly collections with the aim to increase the borough recycling rates to 24.8%. This change has been issued due to estimations show that almost 39% of rubbish put into the general waste bin is food waste.
