Food Waste Caddies come to Devon

Most food waste which is not available for kerbside collections end up going to landfill via your normal waste bin, Devon have now introducted the food waste caddy for their residents to go alongside their regular recycling collections, this is part of their 'recycle more' project which aims to help reduce council costs by £340,000 per year.

Have you ever heard of wheelie bin racing?  Originating from a pub pursuit with some slightly tipsy people, it has grown into many cities and involve fancy dress and desiging of a customised wheelie bins, they are donated from the council, often bins with damage or awaiting recycling so no new bins are used to save money.  All the money from the events are put back into the local community.
